April 2011

April

Our family from San Diego will be with us this week, we are so excited. We had plan to go to the Capital Building, Great Wolf Lodge and revisiting the Smithsonians to take them around the famous museums.
There were 4 children total and 3 adults all cramped up in our most loyal silver Sedona.
I dont like to sit in the backseat for a long period of time, but I have no choice for the most part. Br and Be are sweets addict and all this time I thought K sweet tooth is bad, wait till you see these pair!!
K and A got to try a few new things that made Daddy very very concern, but Alhamdullilah, they dont like them..whew!!

Week 1:

We prepared for family and was busy making Hawaii Lapbook to surprised them We decided that doing a poster in a lapbook style will be a better fit. We did a late night Lei making with a cup of tea and bunch of cookies and came up with 7 leis! Sugar rocks!

We had quite a scare at night when during our bedtime routine, A jumped off her bed and twisted her foot and fell right on her face! We had to call the EMT and make sure she got appt the next day. Alhamdulillah there is no broken bones, fractures or anything and she got to sleep with mom the whole night..

Week 2:

This week we will have to catch up on our Math, Bahasa, and writing skills after having a whole week off. I do feel bad a tiny bit, but knowing that we did a lot of educational field trip, I told myself not to worry too much. We'll have 3 field trip already plan for this week, so that should be enough outing for this week.
  • April 12th Art Class Basket Weaving
K had decided she wanted to sell her toys to gain some money to buy new ones. Her idea was to do a garage sale but we thought about exploring a safer idea by doing it online. Ebay cost too much money and not worth the time, so we decided to help her build her own online store. We went to nearby Walmart where I explained to them, in their own language, how the retail business works. Then I explained the online business by showing them Walmart online stores. The trip ended with them picking up two toys to the check out counters while I go over what customer get and seller responsibility and store policies. When we got home, K had a surprised announcement, she said that since she got a new toy already, which she didnt expect, she will donate all the money she earn from her online store to the poor. I was speechless, but grateful. MashAllah, alhamdulillah. Her sister said she'll do her best to help out.
Today she made $6.50 and was eager to put it on envelope and ship them out. She had a lot of encouraging words from people all over the world once she launched the site, it brought tears to my eyes.
  • April 13th Brain Fun at Pohick Library
My wonderful pediatrician friend did a presentation on brain for the 3rd graders. I had the lesson plans set up and she did an awasome presentation, mashAllah. With six children total, we had a few fun activities while talked about Brain in conjunction of what we learnt last month from Brain Awareness week. I got too comfortable to the idea that I didnt have to do anything, I forgot to take picture! Bummer! Sorry folks..

  • April 14th Game Day With Tween Girls Group Traffic was horrendous and I have a lot of running around to do inside and outside the house, so I cancel this Game Day.
